On Monday, Inga and I visited the area around Enoshima, and we went to the beach! We didn't visit the island itself -- we may save that for another trip -- but we had plenty of fun eating and swimming and relaxing in the sun.
The view from the restaurant we ate at!
The beach! You can see mountains in the distance.
INGA! POSE IN FRONT OF THE ISLAND!
The water was the warmest; it was like swimming in a bathtub!
Word.
It was a really nice break from all the clouds and rain!
The rest of the week involved getting ready for my first day of classes on Wednesday, which turned out to be the least usual first day of school I've ever had in my life: a typhoon hit Tokyo for the first time in something like 10 years (according to one of my professors), leading to the cancellation of all afternoon classes and very crowded trains on the way back to Yokohama (about an hour from Tokyo) and a VERY slow afternoon. So slow, that when the typhoon hit our area (two hours earlier than expected), I took a video. And when the power went out, we all used it as an excuse to socialize. Yep, I live in the EXCITING dorm. :P
This is a video I took from my doorway; note that I only had the door open and didn't actually step outside; the wind and rain were really strong though! Also note that this was not the strongest the typhoon got; it was much stronger later that night, but it gets dark early and I wanted to be sure to get a video for Dad. :)
I was going to talk more about classes in this post and give an update this weekend about our planned trip to Tokyo Disney Sea, but we've since decided to postpone the trip until rainy season is done and go on a Tokyo adventure tomorrow instead, so I will update with more about my classes and our continuing adventures this weekend (probably Sunday or so)!
