お台場に行こう! Let's Go to Odaiba!

First off, it was brought to my attention a few days ago that the typhoon video wasn't working; it has since been fixed, so if you'd like to see a bit of Typhoon 15 in action (note that this video was taken before the storm REALLY got started -- it was dark by then), by all means please do so! I've also added cuts to the previous posts -- now you don't have to scroll down the page forever. To read the rest of the post, all you need to do is click the link that says "read more..." in the body of the entries.

Friday was a holiday, so we had no classes, and as a result, Inga and our friends Eric and Aspasea decided to take advantage of the free day and explore Odaiba! We visited the Tokyo Takoyaki Museum (basically a conglomeration of several different takoyaki stands combined with a gift shop and stuck on the fourth floor of a mall), where we had a delicious, cheap meal, the Fuji Television building, which features a really interesting observation deck, Daikanransha, which was once the largest Ferris wheel in the world, and Venus Fort, which is this really odd Venice-themed shopping mall. All in all, it was a successful, if not incredibly busy day!

The statue... thing... at the entrance to the Takoyaki Museum!
Inga and Aspasea agree: SUPER DELICIOUS.
The Fuji Television building!
The giant ball is actually an observation deck.
The view of Tokyo! Note Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge.
FRIENDS FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER
The inside of Venus Fort. Crazy, right?
It needed to happen.
I never thought Buzz would be taller than me. :(
Daikanransha!!
Oh, but you thought we were done? Oh no, the day was filled with an even better event, the likes of which we never expected, ESPECIALLY not in downtown Tokyo.

We just so happened to stumble across a Mexican cultural fair. In Odaiba. Right next to a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Ladies and gentlemen, it does not get any more bizarre than this.

So. This. This is a thing.
This taco? Delicious. Also that dog? ADORABLE.
These dancers were very talented!
And that was my Friday. Tomorrow I'm back to school, where I'm sure my life will become much busier. I have choir practice starting on Wednesday night, so I'm very much looking forward to that! With luck I'll be able to write another post or two this week (probably not with so many pictures what with the lack of free time), but we'll see -- I have a test on Wednesday, so that comes first.

  1. Odaiba is where they set Digimon! Did you see any giant digital monsters wandering around?

  2. I did not know that Odaiba is where Digimon was set! Unfortunately, no. No monsters. :(
